The Ken Segal Gallery is proud to present the exhibition Prairie Consciousness, a solo show by Canadian contemporary artist Alamgir Huque. This is our first exhibition for Huque. Huque, originally from Bangladesh, is a professional visual artist living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He has had many solo exhibitions in Canada, Spain, India, and Bangladesh. Since 1969, his works have been included in numerous international group exhibitions. In addition, several of his works are in various public and corporate collections.
Prairie Consciousness is a romantic salutation to the Prairie Huque fell in love with when he immigrated to Canada from Bangladesh in 1990. Since then, he has been exploring this ever-changing prairie landscape with his paintings. His paintings honour the generations of life on the land. Huque creates a level of abstraction that is more like a sensation of the place rather than its exact representation.
Prairie Consciousness opens on Thursday, March 20, 2008, 6:30 – 8:30pm and continues to April 12. Alamgir Huque will be in attendance at the opening and his works are available for preview. To get more information, interview the artist or receive press-ready images, please contact the gallery.
