Opening Reception Thursday, April 7th, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. (Artist in attendance)
I am not a painter who uses a photo-camera to capture a visual
sensation. I am also not a painter who looks through a window and describes what he sees. I
am a painter who creates a visual sensation which is new, unknown and never-seen-before. Such
painting is the product of my contemplation about color as a painterly phenomenon.
To search for the genus loci of these paintings in my homeland or yours or in the local
surroundings would be a mistake. Well-known French philosopher Roland Barthes once
said: “the work of art is what man wrests from chance.” Therefore,
the genus loci is in chance; chance which I am able to recognize with my experience,
knowledge and affects of the seen and the read. It is actually in the entire artistic heritage
to which I have access. The paintings are abstract, but their language is universal. Interpret
them according to their affect upon you.
