Blessed with having artists on both sides of his family tree,
Mark Webb started drawing at a very young age. He grew up in Toronto,
Ontario, where he began his professional career as a set decorator in the film industry. In 1990
he joined the new film industry in Winnipeg, Manitoba and worked until 1995, when he retired due
to health problems. At that time while being at home every day he threw himself into painting,
using oil pastel and acrylics.
In 2000 Webb had a sold-out show at the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre
in Steinbach, Manitoba. He illustrated the children's book Grandmother’s Tree for author
Sheila Reid in 2002. In that year he was nominated with Ms. Reid for the McNally Robinson Children’s
Book of the year and was nominated by the Manitoba Writer’s Guild for illustrator of the year.
Webb loves to use colours. He enjoys using his art to make people smile.
He has donated art work for many charity functions such as Palliative Care, South Eastman Regional
Health Authority, and the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre just to name a few. His works are sold
predominantly by word of mouth and are hanging on walls in private collections and corporations in
cities such as Winnipeg, Toronto, Vancouver, London - England and even as far away as Perth - Australia.
