Opening Reception Friday, October 14th, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. (Artist in attendance)
The Ken Segal Gallery is pleased to present our first exhibition of
Winnipeg artist Robert Pasternak, Geometric Concretism.
Pasternak has had numerous solo and group shows over the years. This show is an exciting departure
for him. It is all new and never before seen work. Those who are familiar with his work will be intrigued.
Flesh: A concrete expression
Over the years Pasternak began noticing, when photographing his paintings, the textural
elements found along the edges of the photographs. From this grew the pastel drawings or concrete
expressions. The pastel drawings are reflections of the basic patterning and divisional spaces that
surround and connect us. As well, Pasternak began scouring the streets and discovering a lot of
interesting found objects. From this massive collection of objects he began making assemblages. There is
a real beauty in how these pieces are assembled. They are reflections of our world around us and, whether
they are miniature landscapes or abstract work, they are made up of various components that in turn become
part of the larger system.
Culmination of 20th Century Design: An assemblage of found objects
This show continues the commitment of the Ken Segal Gallery to put on exhibitions of contemporary
works of art. It opens on October 14, 2005 from 6:30 to 8:30pm and continues to November 5.
The artist will be in attendance at the opening and work is available for preview. To obtain more information,
interview the artist or receive press-ready images, please contact the gallery.
